The lazy tube in Castaway Creek
is home to the world's largest outdoor wave pool. The theme of
the park is the "Disney legend" of a typhoon that wreaked
havoc upon a formerly pristine tropical paradise. Ships, fishing
gear, and surfboards are strewn about where the storm flung them.
The centerpiece of the park is "Miss Tilly," a shrimp
boat impaled upon a mountain named "Mount Mayday" that
erupts water every half hour.
The newest attraction at Typhoon Lagoon is the "Crush "N" Gusher" "water
coaster" located in the new Hideaway Bay section of Typhoon
Lagoon. Themed around an abandoned and decaying tropical fruit
processing center, this thrill ride is unique to North America.
Guests ride in two or three person rafts, choosing between three
different slides, the "Banana Blaster", "Coconut
Crusher" or "Pineapple Plunger", that range from
410 to 420 feet (125 to 128 m) long.
Each section propels you through twists and turns, tunnels and
spillways as you slip and slide towards the final plunge into Hideaway
Bay. You'll encounter water jets that will push you forwards while
careening up the slopes of this attraction.
